The Hour of Power prayer service
Our mid-week prayer service has resumed on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in room 362, above Cox Chapel, after a six-week summer break. Join us for a 45-minute service of singing, Scripture lesson, and prayer which will both uplift your spirits and undergird the life and ministries of the church. From time-to-time there also be testimonies from clergy and laity recounting God’s calling and leadership in their lives.
The name of our time together, the “Hour of Power,” derives from two Scripture verses: first, Jesus’ question of the disciples, recorded in Matthew 26:40, “Could you not watch with me one hour?” and second, the promise given in James 5:16 that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective. We are called to watch in prayer and to keep clear channels of communication with God through repentance and faith.
Arville McLain will lead the teaching and prayer time. Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 o’clock in Room 362, which is just above Cox Parlor.
