| The young children at HPUMC are excited about learning their Bible Verses during Sunday School. You may have noticed your child has a sticker or stamp after church. This means Your child was able to repeat the Bible verse. Sometimes we have the same verse all month but other times it changes from week to week to fit the Bible story. Here are some simple suggestions that you might try at home to help your children learn the Bible verses: 1. Write the verse on a card and have children draw pictures to go with it. Use the card a dinner time discussion. 2. Incorporate a Bible verse time into your nightly bedtime prayer routine. 3. See if you can sing the Bible verse to a familiar song. Riding in the car can be a great time to practice Bible verses. 4. Shorten the verse and learn just bits at a time. 5. See if you can come up with hand motions for the verses. 6. Say part of the verse and have your child fill in the blank. 7. Print out the verse from our link and hang it up in your child's room. You can even print it in black and white so your child can color the page. 8. Print out the verse and put on your garage or exit door and have your child say the verse as he/she goes out the door . . like a password/code! 9. Watch the Chadder Videos together here and learn the verse with Chadder each week! Here are a few additional ideas to engage your children in prayer and Christian values: 1. Prayer - Teach your child to pray using using each finger. "I love you, God. Thank you, God. I'm sorry, God. God bless my family and friends. God bless me." 2. Christian Values - Make a "God Honoring Jar". Decorate a jar together, and let your child put a craft puffy ball in the jar when they do something God honoring. Take time to bring attention to the things they do when they don't think you are noticing, and reward them with balls when they least expect it. Have some of your own ideas? We would love to know them. Please email what works in your house to Andi Fancher at fanchera@hpumc.org. |
