Sanctuary

Sundays, 8:30, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m

Sanctuary_Noel_1a.jpgThe 8:30 sanctuary service is a traditional service of worship, which incorporates hymn singing, prayer, scripture and sermon as well as music provided by our youth and children’s choirs. Slightly briefer than the 9:30 and 11:00 services, it is a favorite of families with children and celebrates the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. As at all services in the sanctuary and Cox Chapel, worship folders are available for children ages 3-12 to enhance their experience of worshiping God.

Identical services anchor the worship life of Highland Park United Methodist Church in the traditional hours of 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. It is in these services that the sacramental life of the church is perhaps most evident, there being holy communion celebrated on the first Sunday of the month, and the sacrament of Christian baptism, especially for infants, observed virtually every week. Dynamic preaching by the senior pastor, stirring music by the chancel choir, and frequent special instrumental music make these two hours the central part of our worship as a congregation.
