location and directions

When it comes to matters of faith which keep believers awake at night, trigger conflict among best friends, or simply pique our own curiosity, Adam Hamilton seems to read our collective minds. Written with a pastor's heart and an articulate theologian's mind, Seeing Gray offers a third way that joins vital piety with social holiness. It unites Scripture with tradition, reason and experience. Even when we cannot agree on common ground, Seeing Gray reminds us that we stand together on higher ground. This is a book for thinking Christians.

Cornerstone Speakers Initiative welcomes Rev. Adam Hamilton to HPUMC on Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 in Wesley Hall. Rev. Hamilton will be focusing on the major contemporary issues presented in his new book, Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White: Thoughts on Religion, Morality, and Politics.

A graduate of Oral Roberts University and the Perkins School of Theology at SMU, Hamilton is the founding pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. The author of seven books, he has received the B'nai B'rith award in Social Ethics, the Denman Award in Evangelism, and the Circuit Rider Award for excellence in church leadership. He was named Distinguished Evangelist of the United Methodist Church by the Foundation for Evangelism, and one of "Ten People to Watch in America's Spiritual Landscape" by PBS's Religion and Ethics Newsweekly. Rev. Hamilton has received two honorary doctorates and numerous awards. He serves as a Trustee of the Saint Paul School of Theology and a member of the Kansas East Board of Professional Ministry, and currently lectures on leadership, evangelism and preaching across the country.

Hamilton's Church of the Resurrection has grown from four people in 1990 to over 12,000 adult members with an average weekly worship attendance of over 7,500 in 2006. In a 2005 survey of American pastors, the church was listed as the most influential mainline church in America.

This very special evening will include an hour of engaging talk, a lively Q&A session, and an opportunity to meet Rev. Hamilton in person at a book signing immediately following the presentation. Book purchases are available at the Wesley Hall Welcome Center during the event.

The public is cordially invited and admission is free. Seating is open and unreserved. Doors open 45 minutes prior to the program.
