A native of Platteville, Wisconsin, Sandi received the Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The University of Wisconsin-Platteville where she had a comprehensive (double) major in vocal and instrumental music. She directed the middle school band program and taught elementary school music in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, prior to beginning graduate work. She received the Master of Music degree from The University of Iowa. At Iowa, Sandi was a member of the graduate staff with the Hawkeye Marching Band, music copyist and, following graduation, served as Administrative Assistant for the University Band Program for over 20 years. One of the perks of this position, especially for an avid sports fan like Sandi, was the opportunity to travel with the Hawkeye Marching Band to multiple pre- and post-season games ranging from New York to Florida, to Texas and California, including 3 Rose Bowls.
Sandi moved to Texas in the fall of 1996. In addition to singing in the choirs and playing handbells at HPUMC and her home church, Christ United Methodist in Plano, Sandi also performs with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, the official chorus for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. As a member of this group, she has performed on concert tours in Europe (Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Prague and Budapest) and South America (Montivideo, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro), three performances at the BRAVO! Vail Valley Music Festival in Vail, Colorado, with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and four performances at Carnegie Hall with the DSO and the Opera Orchestra of New York.
